EQUUS 175N UN is the best-selling model from the entire EQUUS forestry tractor range. This tractor belongs among the top European 4-wheel forestry special tractors with hydraulic arm. Forestry tractor EQUUS 175N UN is designed for timber dragging using a reel with the towing force of up to 16 tonnes and timber harvesting using a hydraulic arm and a clambunk. By its dimensions and engine performance, this model fits into the mid-range class, but its axles, cardan joints, reel, hydraulic arm, etc. point to the heavy duty class, making this machine a high performance skidded with low fuel consumption. This machine has the lowest centre of gravity in its class. It has excellent strength and stability.

The CUMMINS engine is suitable for running in lower power-saving speeds, when it offers maximum power. The turbocharger designed by Cummins is a key component in delivering exceptional performance and response to faster cycles. Not only that you get higher power, you also consume less fuel. No-EGR architecture results in lower complexity, higher reliability and lower spatial requirements of the cooling system.

The choice of the EQUUS hydrostatic-mechanical drive with one large-volume hydraulic motor with 45° degree technology results in the most economic operation during work. The hydrostatic transmission has high braking characteristics without the need to use service brake. The hydrostatic transmission is equipped with mechanical two-speed final drive by NAF with the capability to disconnect the 4x4/4x2 rear axle for driving on roads. Compared to 2-hydraulic motor version of our competitors, EQUUS hydrostatic transmission has demonstrably higher efficiency in speeds lower than 18 km per hour.

The Load Sensing hydraulic system is driven by axial piston pump DANFOSS 130 cm3/rev, with the output of 286 l/min at 2200 rpm. The maximum working pressure is 350 bar.

Control of the system is possible thanks to ETL intended to monitor the instantaneous power of the combustion engine. It places no load on the combustion engine and does not reduce its speed when it is under load.

Type: Fixed NAF axles
Axles by the German producer NAF are the top choice for forestry machinery. Our choice was the heavy-duty range even for the basic model, and without any surcharge. The axles have 100% mechanical locking, independent for the front and rear axles. Both the service and parking brakes are located in an oil bath inside the axle. Two-circuit service brake is controlled by the REXROTH hydraulic system. Parking brake is mechanically locked, the electro-hydraulic system is used for its unlocking. In case of pressure failure, the brake activates automatically and stops the tractor.

Front and rare frame: Welded from high-strength steel (S690QL) plates.

The frames are completely welded from the high-strength steel sheets, which contribute to the high rigidity and long service life of the machine. The tractor consists of two independent frames connected using vertical pins and axial bearing. The vertical pins allow up to 45° movement of the frames, the axial bearing allows up to 15° swinging of the frames, two hydraulic cylinders ensure the locking function.

The cabin, which is an in-house production by EQUUS, guarantees the highest safety for the operator. Unlike our competitors, we perform safety tests of the EQUUS cabins in the T1a category, which means that the cabin must comply with ROPS, FOPS and OPS test requirements that are up to 75% more strict. EQUUS tractor has a noise-reduced cabin, which can be tilted in the direction of the engine. This feature ensures an easy access from both sides for servicing. The cabin is equipped with safety smoked glass with 20% reflection of sun rays. The cabin provides an ergonomic workplace for the operator, as well as a good view to all sides. It has the lowest position measured from the ground. It thus provides the most convenient way to get in and out of the cabin, while maintaining excellent trafficability. Doors are located on both sides. The standard equipment includes Webasto air conditioning with heating, cabin lighting, radio with Bluetooth / hands-free and a seat with mechanical suspension (on request, we can install a pneumatic-suspension seat with heating, ventilation and inflatable lumbar support). Optional equipment includes an electric swivel 315° workstation with pedals on the swivel seat base.

Even the basic version of in-house produced two-drum reel features a transmission with spur gear, which is truly a top forestry reel. Its simple design and quality materials ensure a long useful life without significant demands concerning its maintenance. The reel is powered by DANFOSS hydraulic motor with automatic control in order to achieve better working efficiency. The reel provides a towing force of 10 tonnes, which can be optionally increased up to 16 tonnes. The drums provide the capacity of 2 x 115–160 m (Ø14 mm). The reel has two speeds, the maximum speed amounts to 1.35 m/s. Hydraulic unwinding of the rope can be ordered as a special option: hydraulic motors drive the pulleys and the pulleys smoothly pull the ropes out of the reel drum, making the handling of heavy steel rope easier.

HAFO auxiliary reel can be also installed on request. It is used to pull the heavy wire rope using a nylon rope. The total length of the nylon rope can be up to 350 m. As an option, you can also get special features for the reel, namely the smooth start of winding, winding completion and adjusting the speed of winding/unwinding. Another innovation is a pressure roller in the reel drum which ensures the optimum winding of the rope: it forms regular loops during winding, resulting in longer rope life.

EQUUS hydraulic arms of our own design belong to heavy-duty hydraulic arms and are designed for the most demanding operating conditions. Their robust construction allows for trouble-free handling and dragging of timber. We focus on long useful life and ease of maintenance and service. We can supply various lengths of arms, angles and designs. Each function of a hydraulic arm can be individually adjusted: speed, starting and finishing behaviour, sensitivity of the joysticks, etc.

Hydraulic arms feature a double telescope and the reach of 7.5 m, 8.2 m and 9.1 m. Lifting torque can be 120 kN or 140 kN. Hydraulic arm may also have a floating position if it is necessary to tow it, etc. The hydraulic arm features a rotator, link and Gripen 035 grapple. On request, we can supply link with double brake and various types of grapples. The hydraulic arm is also equipped with a trunk support and 1 LED light to illuminate the grapple. For a surcharge, you can get 2 LED lights on the sides of the hydraulic arm too.

The folding rear shield is made of a high-strength material. The upper edge of the shield can be equipped with rigging fixtures or radius with teeth for placing of timber. Extremely strong spherical rope pulleys are also a part of the rear shield. Customers can also choose a shield with a self-lifting shield for lifting pulleys to the height of 2 m. When lifted, the lower edge of the shield is at the optimum height to maintain good ground clearance and a large enough approach angle allowing to smoothly cope with steep slopes when reversing. The baseline width of the rear shield is 2400 mm. The following rear shields can be selected:

Folding front blade with reinforced bottom bar and timber barriers. Thanks to the high lift of the blade, the tractor has large approach angle, which is a great advantage when running downhill from steep slopes. Several types and widths of the blade are available. Optionally, tool boxes or log gripping fixtures can be mounted on the front blade. It is also possible to increase its lifting force to 6 tonnes. On request, a special (planing) front blade can also be supplied. It can be rotated around the horizontal axis by means of 2 hydraulic cylinders according to the slope of the terrain. In the standard version, the front blade is equipped with a chainsaw holder. The baseline width of the front blade is 2200 mm. The following front blades can be selected:

The rear shield can be optionally equipped with our in-house produced clambunk. The hydraulic cylinder-operated system serves as a holder for timber hauling. Standard feature of the clambunk is the automatic clamping function of the jaws, which ensures that the timber is always gripped firmly when being dragged. There is a choice of a clambunk with the loading area of 0.8 sq. m or a larger one with the area of 1.2 sq. m, and it can be either non-removable or removable with a quick-release coupler.
